History of The Coolidge
Struck by U.S. mines that crippled its engine room and stern, The Coolidge saw the calm evacuation of 5,340 troops within 90 minutes, transforming it into an underwater time capsule adorned with beautiful coral, remnants of military equipment and poignant memories. An array of coral-encrusted artifacts such as guns, medical supplies, gas masks, machinery and opulent fittings like chandeliers and a mosaic fountain now lie suspended in time, awaiting exploration by divers like yourself. Amidst this historical tapestry, vibrant marine life such as turtles, moray eels, lionfish, barracuda and reef fish thrive.
